Stranger things was filmed in Georgia, Atlanta but many of the interior sets were filmed on sound stages in EUE Screen Gems Studios in Atlanta.

Most characters take the role of a typical suburban character, except for characters for Joyce Byers and Jim hopper. They can be described as a Spielberg character.

The country that stranger things was filmed is reflected in the TV drama through style of buildings, vehicles and interiors. The US in the 80's was obviously different than today and tis is emphasised through the choice of location and miss en scene.

During the first episode, a number of day to day life scenarios are seen. such as school life, family dinner and breakfast times. 

Most of these structures are seen to be normal in the wheelers household, however the byers house can be seen to challenge these situations. This is due to Joyce being a single mother, ring two children. another character who challenges the typical life of a police chief is Jim Hopper, who is seen to be a drunk and live in a messy and unkempt house.
